Relief came the way of thousands of the inmates in
notable orphanages and foster homes in Zaria, Katsina, Taraba, Kano and Kaduna
States following the donation of food and essential items valued at over
N5million by the Katsina Youths Voice (North East Youth Organization).
The Director General, Farida Kabir Murnai made the
donation on thursday when she led a delegation of the management staff to the
orphanages, Almajiri schools and hospitals.
Presenting the items, Farida said the gesture was to
cushion the hardships being faced by the orphans and almajiris.
“We know you are not here in your own making; none of you
is happy to be here. “words are are not enough to comfort and soothe your pains
and loss, we decided to come and identify with you.
“Nothing we give here will be enough, but the little we
came with, is just to support you,” she said.
Murnai urged the orphans and almajiris to continue to
pray for return of total peace in areas affected by crisis in the country.
She further promised the orphan’s a better and more
secured Nigeria when Atiku Abubakar wins in the 2019 general elections.
Farida called for the total support of Atiku Abubakar’s
candidacy for the 2019 presidential election. She said Nigeria is currently at
a crossroad with the incessant killings going on the north and the general
insecurity coupled with the gripping poverty that have enveloped the entire
nation. She said more than ever before every Nigerian must come together to
deliver the country from the unpleasant situation she has found ourselves,
saying that the only way to do this, is to support a credible candidate that
has a general appeal to every zone in the country.
“Atiku Abubakar fits that choice perfectly well and every
Nigerian must therefore endeavour to support his presidential ambition come
2019. Atiku Nigeria will work again and peace and prosperity will return to the
country”, she said.
Responding, Danjuma Jada, coordinator of one of the
orphanages in Zaria , commended the Organization and the former Vice President,
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the gesture and reaching out to those in the camp.
He said that the Organization came at a crucial period,
when food and other essential items are needed the most in the camp.
Various items, including cartons of noodles, bottled
water, bags of garri, bags of rice, bags of sugar, bags of beans and diapers,
amongst others were donated to the orphanages by the Organization as well as
hospital bills cleared for the very poor in the communities.
